Are your barrels proofed for steel shot?
We take a look at How to Check and what the Steel Shot Proof Mark actually means in this video. If your barrels are in fact Steel Shot Proofed, this means you can shoot the Superior Steel Shot Loads, such as High Velocity and Big Game cartridges. Manufacturers will usually state whether barrels need to be Superior Steel Shot Proofed to be safe to use them.
Standard Steel Shot Loads are fine to use with barrels proofed for Lead Shot, which is where the confusion is when it comes to Steel Shot. We cover the possible risks of using Steel Shot with choke sizes and what happens if a steel shot pellet is on the wrong side of the wad.
